Managing Criticality of ASAS Applications
نویسنده
چکیده
What must happen to assure that some aspects of separation services can safely be performed in the cockpit? The ASAS concept proposes the transfer of responsibility for maintaining aircraft separation from the ground to the airborne side under specific conditions. With the emergence of an operational requirement for ASAS applications, their safety issues need to be addressed as soon as possible. MITRE and CENA, which have been involved in ASAS and safety studies for many years, are particularly interested in doing so. This paper presents the results of safety assessment work performed to date towards the prospect of developing and certifying ASAS applications, and indicates the direction foreseen for continuing work aimed at completing and introducing ASAS for useful operational service. Illustrative examples of criticality assessment of ASAS, including assessment for the aircraft segment and for the ground ATC segment, are presented using the Operational Safety Assessment (OSA) methodology developed by a joint committee of RTCA and EUROCAE.

Managing change in software development
The software practices used to develop software systems emerge under the influence of a number of factors, including such factors as culture, size and criticality. These factors will change over time and the change must therefore be managed. Software practices that have emerged under the influence of factors that later has changed have to be adopted to reflect the change of influencing factors ...
متن کاملSerum Antisperm Antibodies in Fertile and Infertile Individuals
: Presence of antisperm antibodies (ASAs) in infertility and their adverse effects on fertility is a matter of controversy. The aims of this study were to determine the percentage of antibody positive sperms and rate of ASA positive sera in both fertile and infertile men and women, and to find the association between these antibodies and infertility. Methods: This study consisted of 29 fertile ...
متن کاملAn overview of airborne time-spacing research in the JADE program
The Aircraft Surveillance Applications System (ASAS), what used to be called Airborne Separation Assistance System, is seen as a promising option in future Air Traffic Management (ATM) for increasing capacity and operational effectiveness, and improving safety while reducing fuel consumption. One of the interesting ASAS applications is to achieve desired time intervals between arrival aircraft ...
متن کاملA Putative Model of Transformative Teaching Self
Reconciliating the logics of Post-method Era, Critical Pedagogy, and Sociocultural Theory in its conceptual framework, this study postulated Iranian EFL teachers’ socio-pedagogical identity as comprising conformity, criticality, and conformity-criticality mediation in order to explore and model the different aspects of Iranian EFL teachers’ “transformative teaching self,” probably contributing ...
متن کاملToward a Tool for Modeling and Managing Uncertainty in Project Planning
Good project managers recognize the inherent uncertainties that make project planning difficult. However, project planning tools often provide little support for managing uncertainties. We have developed a prototype tool for project plan analysis, using simulation and simple models for management decisions about resource reallocation. We have also developed some real-world data to use in evalua...
